Will AI Replace Air Cargo Software Companies? Here's Our Take.

AI is writing better code, faster than ever. And yes—we get the anxiety. Will AI eventually put air cargo software companies out of business?

Our view: AI won't replace us. But it will replace the "old way" of doing what we do.

AI Knows Code. It Doesn't Know Air Cargo.

Air cargo is fundamentally different from general-purpose software. The chain involves multiple touchpoints—from cargo reception, security screening, ULD buildup, ramp transport, loading, to customs clearance, trucking, and final delivery. Each step has its own logic and compliance requirements.

A competent software provider must understand the workflows of airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers, and customs—and tailor solutions to each client's unique reality. You can't train that into an AI by feeding it millions of lines of code.

At iTran Systems, we've been in this space for 15 years. We've delivered over a hundred projects globally. We've built systematic industry knowledge that no model can simply absorb. An LLM can tell you "how." It struggles with "why"—or "what's the right fit for this customer."

AI doesn't get those nuances. We do.

AI Is a Tool, Not a Rival.

The shift is real. A mid-sized project used to take six people six months to ship. Today, one person with architecture and business knowledge, combined with AI tooling, can deliver in weeks.

What's disappearing are execution-only roles. What's emerging are decision-making and collaboration roles.

At iTran Systems, every engineer is expected to be half a product manager. You don't just ask "how to write this code?" You ask: Why was this designed this way? What problem is the customer actually facing?

AI writes code. It doesn't ask "why." Those who ask "why" will wield the tools. Those who only write code will be replaced by them.

With AI, iTran Systems Becomes Stronger.

Fifteen years of domain expertise is our ballast. AI is the engine we're adding to the ship.

With AI, we achieve:

· Greater efficiency — repetitive work goes to AI; engineers focus on architecture and business logic.

· Higher output — the same team runs more projects in parallel.

· Better quality — AI-assisted review, testing, and self-healing fixes.

· Deeper customer insight — engineers freed up to go to the field and understand real needs.

We don't need a massive team. We need a sharper one.

So, Will AI Replace Programmers?

It will replace those who only play the role of "parts." But it will empower those who combine intelligence with domain expertise.

AI is a tool. Treat it like one. The best move isn't to resist it—it's to dive in. Use it. Tame it. Master it.

The tedious work fades away. In its place? Limitless creation.
